Path2Zero and MarLEN Collaborate to Accelerate Europe’s Transition to Net-Zero Transport
Path2Zero is thrilled to announce a new collaboration with the MarLEN Project, a European initiative advancing research, innovation, and decarbonisation in maritime and inland waterway transport.
Both projects share a vision of accelerating sustainable, zero-emission transport solutions through transnational collaboration, knowledge exchange, and targeted stakeholder engagement.
Complementary Approaches Toward Net-Zero Transport
Transport remains one of the few sectors where greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise, highlighting the urgent need for actionable, evidence-based strategies.
Path2Zero addresses this challenge by equipping stakeholders with a comprehensive knowledge base to develop, evaluate, and benchmark net-zero transport pathways across sectors and borders. By advancing modelling, data harmonisation, and policy evaluation tools for decarbonisation pathway comparisons.
MarLEN’s approach complements Path2Zero’s by focusing on waterborne transport, building a collaborative European ecosystem that connects ministries, research programs, and industry actors. Through tools like the Waterborne Database, mutual-learning workshops, and networking events, MarLEN addresses fragmentation in research agendas, funding gaps, and the “valley of death” between scientific development and market deployment.
Both projects recognise that transnational cooperation is key to transforming research and policy into actionable, real-world solutions.
Stay Tuned for Upcoming Joint Activities
Subscribers of Path2Zero and MarLEN can look forward to many upcoming joint activities, including in spring 2026, with mutual-learning Workshops, joint publications and more knowledge-sharing activities.
Strengthening Europe’s Net-Zero Transport
The collaboration leverages the strengths of both projects: Path2Zero’s robust modelling, data integration, and policy evaluation framework, and MarLEN’s transnational network, bringing together key stakeholders.
Together, PATH2ZERO and MarLEN aim to accelerate the adoption of climate-neutral solutions across transport modes, strengthen the European Research Area, and provide actionable recommendations for policymakers, industry, and local communities.
