PATH2ZERO launches DataSyncer to harmonise transport data across Europe

The PATH2ZERO project has delivered the first version of the DataSyncer, a tool designed to simplify the use of and ability to compare transport, energy and emissions data.

Data in the transport sector is often fragmented, inconsistent and difficult to integrate into models that guide policy. The DataSyncer solves this by offering a harmonised structure that brings together both quantitative elements, such as emission projections, and qualitative ones, such as national strategies. By bringing together these different aspects into one common format, the tool ensures that the information on 30 countries that was compiled by PATH2ZERO project partners can be compared and used reliably.

Why does this matter?

Good policies need good data. With the DataSyncer, researchers and policymakers gain a transparent and consistent evidence base for testing different transport pathways, evaluating climate strategies, and identifying potential gaps. This is critical as transport remains one of the few sectors where greenhouse gas emissions are still rising.

The tool is already bring used within the consortium to support upcoming scenario modelling and policy analysis. Future versions will expand its functions and integrate feedback from users.

Who does the DataSyncer benefit?

       Policymakers get clearer insights for climate action in transport;

       Researchers and modellers gain a shared platform for collaboration; and

        Citizens benefit indirectly through better-informed policies that help Europe move faster towards net-zero mobility.

The DataSyncer will be made publicly available at a later date. Keep following PATH2ZERO to find out when and to learn about many other exciting activities that will be carried out.
